REBECCA SPENCER:  THE WORLD OF AN AMERICA DIVA

By Jayson Meynard in London.

Rebecca Spencer was born in Bristol, Pennsylvania, USA,  and raised in Levittown, a suburb of Pennsylvania. Her parents loved the arts, music and creative talents. They served their country with pride and exemplary devotion.. Her father graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and served on submarines in WW II. Later on,  he   worked for the Rhom and Haas plastics company until retirement.  Her mother attended Arcadia College in Philadelphia, as a nutritionist.  She volunteered for the American Red Cross, devoting her life to the service of  others, particularly the men, the women and their families during  the Vietnam War. Rebecca's mother is a gifted painter. After graduating from High School, Rebecca attended Ithaca College in upstate NY, where she earned  a Bachelor of Music degree in performance. Today, Rebecca Spencer  lives with her husband  and two cats in a house they bought and which  dates back to 1896. A charming and warm house located in a small river town 25 miles north of Manhattan in an historical town of Dobbs Ferry, NY. Although the Spencers  never made time to have children, they remained  “kid friendly” to all of their neighbors and relatives.  Ms. Spencer is a stunning beauty, petite of a stature but a giant of a talent. She is  5'4". Her captivating and dangerously charming blue eyes , sometimes hazel were given by the providence just to mesmerize you.  And the wardrobe should match her eyes, I assume. "I love a dress that is of one color, in red  deep rust, or black or even, white as long as it is feminine and comfortable enough to enhance the hour glass figure and that you can take a comfortable deep breath in, and sip some wine in after a performance." Rebecca came to the rescue...

Rebecca loves colors. She told me : "Color depends on how it is used.  For my home interior I love rich masculine colors and colonial shades of green, and burgundy, gold and even  lavender.  I love the color red to wear, but it seems I usually wear black.  I love earth tones and natural colors for my landscaping so as not to disrupt nature.  I love English gardens." How about fashion? Rebecca answered: "I love fashion and I do love to watch styles come and go.  However, I am forever, and still am in search of the perfect designer who understands the  feminine curves for an entire wardrobe.  I have an hour glass figure, and I am considered a petite.  I love the classic fit and comfort in the designs by Ralph Lauren for both day and particularly for evening wear." Woman of the world with a refined taste and mystifying persona, Rebecca loves to travel, hike and go on long walks by the ocean. That is what relaxes her. And while she travels, she bargains, " I love to find a great bargain in any kind of shopping.  I love to antique in the stores where you have to dust off the furniture yourself." said the American stunning diva. What else does she likes? "  I like to go to wine tasting event and meet friends for coffee breaks. I like to read mysteries, psychological thrillers  and crime novels.  These are full escapes for me."

Reflecting on life, Rebecca explained to me: "I am still formulating my philosophy in life but I do know each and every one of us is born with gifts and a purpose for this lifetime.  Life is precious and  is also a gift.....  to quote George Bernard Shaw...."I want to be thoroughly used up before I die...."Rebecca continues: "I still and always will find it a privilege of mine to vote on both the national and local elections.  However, where I feel I can really have a voice is in my own little town.  I am most interested in the zoning laws and protecting land and not allowing plans for small towns to be just for the present.  Preservation of life, both mankind, and nature are important to me. I realize I can be active on a smaller scale for pro active groups to raise money for arts education and for historical preservation and for benefits that raise money for AIDS research and Cancer research and for the Humane society. I stay well informed about the changes taking place in our world." Asking her what she notices first about people, Rebecca told me: " I am a people person.  I like to know who they are and not be caught up in what they do.  I first notice the light in someone’s eyes. I  like to be present in life and that is a hard thing to be conscious of.  I have a practical side to me; I have learned that I have the ability to be spontaneous as it is much healthier to keep up with how life can be filled with surprises.
